Al Melling Sportscars is the car manufacturing arm of the Rochdale-based MCD Group, an engineering consultancy that has been designing engines, suspension, chassis and many other car components for clients for nearly 40 years. “Over the years we’ve made enough components to build complete cars and many times over,’ says founder Al Melling. ‘I decided it was time to bring that that know-how together in a couple of cars of my own.’

The Wildcat is the first of two Melling sports cars. The second, the Hellcat scheduled for 2012, will be even faster and more exotic, featuring a big-capacity V12 of Melling’s own design with its block milled from a single billet of aluminium.
